We stayed at the Hamptom Inn for the simple reason that it was a good value. After searching for a reasonable hotel in Manhattan, we decided to stay in NJ and take the bus to Port Authority. We had stayed there several years ago, and found that the hotel was better than our first stay--and it was good then. One thing that set it apart was the helpfulness of the staff--the folks at the front desk gave us a printed list of local restaurants and printed directions to the Vince Lombardi Park and Ride--where we took the bus to NYC. The huge advantaage of this location is that it is about a 5 minute drive to the park and ride, and the bus from the park and ride takes aboutr 20 minutes to get to Manhattan. The Port Authority bus terminal links up to all the subway lines. This is a great location for seeing the sights in Manhattan.
The other plus about this hotel is the complimentary breakfast. There is a lot of choice, the food is good and the staff is very attentive. I highly recommend staying at the Hampton Inn for business or for a base for seeing NYC.
